i was looking @ the members list, i think it would be a good idea, if the user has joined, and 2 or less posts in the last 30+ days, they get auto closed (closed acct.). as purely they came to complain and nvr return, just my thought. XD

for the reason supa just said i dont think that is 100% a good idea. runners would have thier account closed. so lets say they decide they are going to run off a different account. they cant post saying so. also closing accounts in just like banning imo. we gonna ban inactive people lol?

if they don't use forums for a specific time frame, then i believe closure is the answer, and clean up is not banning. we have alot more vacant accts here on the site, runners are different, and they get, say 60 days. as we have runners who disappear as well.....they are like dishwashers @ a restaurant, lol they come and go....

my $0.02, just clean up accounts with < 50 posts THAT HAVE BEEN INACTIVE FOR MORE THAN 2 MONTHS.. that way, we can be sure that we're not cleaning up people (runners) that are actually active..

I think its a cool idea as well, but along with Jake I don't understand what the true benefit will be.

If someone comes on & is active & gets bills & then goes away for a while but comes back, should they get their bills back if account was closed?

I know that with a friend of mines web site if your account has not been logged in for 60 days (i think) it auto generates an email reminding the person about the site and asking them to come back and visit. I am not sure what that would take to do server side, but it then creates a record for admin purposes to be able to create a tickler file for removing inactive accounts after a certain period.

Bills, which i know nothing about except that it seems like an internal currency, I think we be distributed back to the "bank". With the winding down of D2 I doubt you will have any problems with long time inactives, but you could review on a case by case basis.

Removing old accounts is a good policy, but the only benefits I see is that it reduces database size. You already have a heirarchy so there is not really an issue of confusion about drive by complaints.

What you could do is make a general forum that is accessible by anyone that could be used for folks that want to complain without creating an account. But the next logical step is to have a review for ALL applications for web site access and granting that access to any individual.
